European Union Meeting of the Ministers
INTERMEDIATE
TOPIC:
TO BE ANNOUNCED
The Council of the European Union is a meeting of government ministers from each EU country to discuss and coordinate the matter of policies and laws. The attending ministers have the power to commit their countries to the decisions made during the meeting. The main focuses of discussion are negotiating and adopting laws based on proposals from the EU commissions, developing the EU’s foreign and security policy, concluding agreements between the EU and non-EU bodies and adopting the annual budget along with the European parliament. The decisions made by this committee directly affect the relationship between the EU and the rest of the world and having people with different backgrounds of knowledge will help make a more balanced decision. The decisions made will directly connect to the other committees as the others will need to react to the evolving stance of the EU as the conference goes on.
